Jeff Rupert is a Yamaha performing artist, record producer, recording artist, freelance tenor saxophonist, full-time professor, Director of Jazz Studies at UCF. He leads the Flying Horse Big Band, and maintains a busy recording and performing schedule with his quartet, and as an in-demand sideman and band leader with a variety of notables. A gifted composer and arranger, Rupert is well heeled in jazz traditions from his many experiences over the years playing with greats like Benny Golson, Maynard Ferguson, and Kevin Mahogany, to name a few.

Brian Simpson is an acclaimed contemporary jazz pianist and composer who has toured and performed with many artists including Janet Jackson, George Duke, Dave Koz, Wayman Tisdale, James Ingram, Anita Baker, Gerald Albright, Norman Brown and others. Brian currently tours extensively throughout the world as a solo artist and has released 12 albums, his most recent Midnight Groove, in 2025 on Shanachie Entertainment. www.bsimpsonmusic.com

Brian is joined by a special guest, the versatile and energetic saxophonist BK Jackson. A native of Tampa, Florida, BK was a member of the New Power Generation (NPG) Hornz with Prince for four years before touring with Trombone Shorty as a member of Orleans Avenue for almost 10 years. Since 2025, BK has performed on Dave Koz & Friends Cruise, Daytona Jazz Weekend, Florida Smooth Jazz Weekend, Seabreeze Jazz Festival and others, and recently performed at Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts with Rick Braun and Randy Jacobs.

Italian born Mafalda Minnozzi, has a story of a lifetime of cultural exchange that has earned her the "Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy" from Italy's president Sergio Mattarella. Her trajectory from 1996, as performer to recording artist to even a television personality in Brazil, comes full circle on her Bossa Nova flavored release RIOFONIC, which was the number one played female vocal album on the 2025 year-end JazzWeek Top 100 radio chart.

Backed by a solid rhythm section, Dave MacKenzie (Orlando Jazz Orchestra), Rex Wertz (Palm Beach Society Orchestra), and CFJS scholarship winners Daniel Bonnet and Tanner Goulet will perform pieces especially for four saxes – including selections from Benny Carter’s 1968 Further Definitions and Gerry Mulligan’s 1957 cool jazz/hard bop album The Gerry Mulligan Songbook – along with other sax-centric pieces and collaborations.

The Unlawful Assembly reimagines and tributes historic spirituals and hymns which universally inspire, empower and unite.
